The Bulldog Is Back!

Had a great treadmill run tonight, and due to a busy evening with chores to do and errands to run, it very nearly didn’t happen. I left it fairly late to run (compared to my late afternoon workouts anyway) and to be honest wasn’t really looking forward to it, but after a steady 6 or 7 minute warm up, I got into a great groove and felt really good in the closing three miles.

I mixed it up a bit and ran numerous 40 second “striders” followed by 60 seconds of easy running – each strider slightly quicker than the previous one, all at a base incline of 2%. Towards the end I was really fired up and felt like I was flying – what a great feeling!

So as Charlie predicted in one of his recent comments, I’m certainly feeling better than I was a couple of days ago:

The first one for me is always sluggish. You will be back to your old self and better in no time!

Tomorrow I’ll probably run an easy 4 or 5 miles which will hopefully leave me fairly fresh for Saturday’s Chesapeake Bay 10k.

Charlie, if you read this before the weekend, good luck in this weekend’s Country Music Marathon! Have fun….
