Saturday Run. Smoky Again

Not much to report on this smoky, Saturday afternoon run. It was hot and humid and a bit of a struggle towards the end if I’m honest. Luckily I had my wife to keep me company and the hour in the smoky conditions caused by North Carolina wildfires actually went by quite fast.

The Evans Road Fire is still burning strongly and shows no sign of letting up. According to news reports, smoke from the fire has choked the Outer Banks for nearly three weeks and its effects have been felt as far north as Richmond, Virginia. At the moment there’s not a day goes by without Virginia Beach, where I live, being affected, and hopefully the wind direction will change tomorrow so I can get in a more comfortable afternoon run.

I guess I could always run on the treadmill, but I’m really reluctant during the summer months to work out indoors. Long term, however, it may be the safer option…
