Bit Of A Catch Up

Haven’t posted too much the past 3 or 4 days. Lots going on and life in the blog world has had to take a back seat for a short time, so I just thought I’d post a quick update of what I’ve been up to:

Monday was a solid treadmill run, followed by a quick test to see how many push ups I could manage. I’m dabbling with the “100 Push Ups For Breakfast Plan” again, so wanted to get a gauge on where I need to start. I managed a puny 19 consecutive push ups which surprisingly puts me straight into Week 3 of the plan and dumps me into the average category compared to the rest of the nation – the same as I was last June actually! At least I’m still average eh? 🙂

Last night I rode indoors for 45 minutes and followed the last leg of the “Lake Placid Training Ride” which really brought back great memories of my one and only Ironman Triathlon in 2004. I followed up the bike ride with the final workout of Essential Abs Week 5 – only 4 workouts left and the program is complete!

Unfortunately, tonight was another treadmill run – this time 45 minutes of hill repeats. After 5 minutes warming up I would alternate the incline between 2% and 10% for 2 minutes at a time – a great leg and lung buster if ever there was one. Keen to stick to my strength program I completed the first workout of Week 3 of the 100 Push Ups For Breakfast Plan – an arm trembling 15 push ups followed by 12, 11, 10 and 15 more with 60 seconds recovery between each set. It sounds easier than it actually is, or maybe I’m just weak 🙂

So the week is progressing nicely. I’m not worried about a drop in running mileage this week – it’s all part of the plan. I’m looking forward to Saturday’s Half Marathon, but can’t help feeling I should be running a 20 miler as preparation for the Shamrock Marathon in March.

Apologies for the lack of pretty pictures and the boring text based blog post. Hopefully the next one will be a bit more colorful….

Happy Miles!
