One Hour Treadmill Run

After a couple of 12 mile runs over the weekend in some weird weather conditions, it was nice to run inside on the treadmill where I could control the pace, the incline and to some degree the temperature. After a short warm up, I performed my favorite workout of the moment - the 10k Strength Builder - and finished off the hour with 8 minutes of cool down.
I didn’t go crazy with the 10k pace for fear of pulling up lame with a pre-marathon injury. For me, the week before a marathon is a fine balance between getting enough rest and keeping a certain amount of quality work going. I hate to just plod through the miles this week as it puts me in a sluggish frame of mind for the race. However, a workout like tonight’s really gets me pumped up without taxing my system too much. Of course I still have 6 days to go and I won’t be doing anything taxing after Wednesday of this week, which will give me Thursday, Friday, Saturday to really taper and get fired up for the race.
Fun times….and for some reason I’m starting to really look forward to this race. Should be an interesting week.
