Squats, Push Ups And An Eight Mile Run

Started off the day with W2D2 of the Two Hundred Squats plan. For those of you who tackled the Hundred Push Ups and/or Two Hundred Sit-Ups challenges, there’s a new kid on the block – the Two Hundred Squats challenge! Not surprisingly, the program follows a similar exercise schedule as the other two challenges and will guide you gently towards completing two hundred consecutive squats at the end of a six week period. Okay, maybe not gently, but it should be achievable for most of you out there. I’m using light weights to make the squats slightly more challenging, but you’re able to follow along using no extra weight at all if you so desire.

Anyway, I needed to do 19, 22, 16, 16 and at least 23 for the max set at the end. I actually managed 19, 22, 16, 16 and 50 for a total 127 squats – not too bad at all considering.

Later on in the day I continued with the Hundred Push Ups plan. W3D3 is always a challenge and I just managed to scrape through to the end.

This evening, after the weekly grass cutting was out of the way, it was time for a run. If truth be told, I wasn’t really looking forward to it – I was a little tired and had lots of work to do – but I headed out anyway and ended up having a great run; almost 9 miles in about an hour and seven minutes. Considering I ran a tough 20 yesterday, I felt remarkably good today. Looks like the ice bath did the trick yet again!

That’s it for today. Hopefully I’ll get to the pool for another swim tomorrow and fit in another run somewhere along the way.

Frederick is just 20 days away – soon be time to taper (again)!
