McMillan Custom Marathon Plan: Week 9 Day 1

Week 9, Day 1
Phase: Marathon
Workout: 35 to 50 minute Easy Run
Purpose: Build Endurance
Pretty uneventful afternoon treadmill run, but I did notice I’m now in the “Marathon” phase of the McMillan Custom Training Plan. I guess with 12 weeks to go, leaving the Pre-Marathon phase behind makes sense.

I also noticed I’ve passed the 1500 mile mark for miles logged in 2008. Not sure how that compares to previous years, but it seems like I’ll be heading towards 2300 by the end of the year – not too shabby I suppose.

Distance: 6 miles
Time: 45:00

Not much else to say at the moment except a quick apology for the brevity of my posts of late. I don’t seem to have much spare time at the moment and blogging is taking a bit of a back seat I’m afraid. I’ve also let the push ups and core work slip slightly the past week or so; I need to make an effort to ensure my hard work over the summer was not all for nothing.

On a positive note, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon is only 6 days away. “Rock ‘n’ Roll” is probably my favorite race of the year and this will be the 7th time I’ve run it. My times range from 1:21:26 in 2006 to 1:26:47 in 2003. 2004 saw my highest overall finish position (76th) and 2006 my highest age group placing (6th), The race has steadily grown from its first running in 2001 with 10,840 finishers to 17,025 last year. I wonder where I’ll place in 2008 and what time I will run on the new course? I guess I’ll have to wait six days to find out….
