Sweating Buckets And A Couple Of Runs

My plan was to hit the track this afternoon and give the Yasso 800s a go. I drove to the local HS track, but halfway there, the rain decided to come down…..and come down it did! No worries, it was still 60°F and I happen to like the rain. I hopped out of the car and headed away from the school as part of the warm up, but within half a mile I was drenched, cold and my Garmin was beeping out of control. The rain was getting worse, the wind picking up and the temperature dropping all the time, so I figured I’d head back to the car and go home.

Back at the house I decided on a run – bike – run. Part 1 was a three mile treadmill run at 5% incline at varying speeds – nice to mix it up a bit and the burning quads let me know it was quite a workout. For Part 2 I popped the Sweating Buckets Spinervals workout into the VCR (yeah, old-school I know) and for the next 50 minutes followed Troy Jacobson’s expert instructions. Indoor cycling is pretty mundane at the best of times, but somehow, following the Spinervals workouts really helps the time pass quickly. Sweating Buckets is classed as one of the “Fitness Workouts” and is therefore slightly less challenging than many in the vast range available at Spinervals.com. Good fun!

For Part 3, I hopped off the bike and hit the treadmill again – this time keeping the speed fixed and varying the incline from 1-10%. Cool workout, a great calorie burner and almost as satisfying as the Yasso 800s which were rained off. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow?

By the way, not sure what happened to my Garmin 405 in the rain. I can’t get it to switch off so I think it’s still recording my workout that started a few hour ago. Should be an interesting GPS track!
