Nice easy run tonight at a fairly gentle pace, although I did mix things up a bit in the third mile with several “striders” to improve my form at speed. The wind was again quite strong, and the temperature started to drop as the sun went down, but overall it was a very enjoyable late afternoon run. Splits were 7:35, 7:40, 6:56 and 7:20 to give me an average 7:23 pace.
Tonight was also the last workout in Week 6 of the Essential Abs plan and the second workout in Week 4 of the Push Ups plan. Now the abs program has finished, I need to find some sort of maintenance plan to help me maintain where I am.
Friday is a complete rest day, but I’m looking forward to Saturday’s 6k cross country race at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake, Virginia which is the second race in the 3-Race Mud In Your Eye series.
After the first race, I have a slim 27 second lead in the 40-44 age group, so I’m hoping I can stay in front going into the final race in a few weeks time.
One last thought - rain would be nice to make the undulating, grassy course more of a challenge and more like a British cross country race
We’ll see on Saturday I suppose.
