Early Morning Five Miles To Avoid The Heat

After yesterday’s tough run in the sun, I decided to get up early and run a steady five miles before the sun had chance to warm things up too much. The temperature at 5:45am was still almost 80°F, but much more manageable than both runs on the weekend and actually very enjoyable.

I ran several loops around a local park, each one just over a mile in length, and it was great to watch the sun rise a little higher in the sky every time I made a turn to the east. The sun rise was quite spectacular and helped take my mind off the oppressive heat and humidity, and before I knew it I was heading for home to get showered up and ready for work.

Enjoyable workout and a great start to the day….

I’m all about the morning workouts in this kind of heat.

Definitely the sensible option! And now with temperatures already in the 90′s, I wish I’d got up a little earlier and ran this morning.

Oh well, should be an interesting PM run instead.

Gotten into the habit of running at 5.30am, its definitely cooler but still unbelievably hot!

I got out at 6:00 this morning in Williamsburg. STILL HOT!

Just found this site. Looks good, and simi-local to me.

Looks like temperatures are crazy everywhere at the moment.

I took for the easy option tonight and ran inside on the treadmill instead!
