Addaday Pro Massage Roller

Addaday manufacture a comprehensive range of products “designed as self-massage tools to help people feel better so that they move more”. Their massage rollers feature gears that incorporate varied surface textures and shapes. These textures and shapes are scientifically designed to release muscle and tendon adhesions, and promote optimal blood flow around the various muscle groups.

The 21″ Addaday Pro Massage Roller features both soft (blue) and medium density (gray) Skin Surface Technology gears and also includes a red pinpoint precision gear, thereby providing an effective massage with three different levels of gears. The slightly sticky Skin Surface Technology (SST) tracks the surface of your skin, and is perfect for kneading and focused deep tissue massage.

The Addaday Pro Massage Roller is extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. Personally, I tend to focus on several areas including the IT Band, glutes, quads and calves, but it’s also good for the hamstrings, lower back and neck. For new users the Addaday website features several tutorial videos to help target each group of muscles effectively. Here’s one for the glutes:

Note: Featured massage techniques will also work with the Type A, Type A+ and Type C rollers.

Using the Pro Massage Roller is a breeze. The pressure can easily be controlled on sensitive areas, with both the gray and blue gears perfect for kneading, circular motions. The smaller red precision gear is ideal for hard to reach areas like the shin and achilles area, but can also be used to add intensity to a massage.

At just 21″ in length, the Addaday Pro Massage Roller is easy to throw in a gym bag for pre and post exercise use. Before exercise it’s great for warming up the tissues and priming the legs to run. After exercise it does a great job of flushing any junk from the muscles to promote a speedy recovery.

Addaday have only been around for a few years, but they’ve quickly become an important part of my daily recovery and maintenance routine, and with talented athletes like Timmy Olson, Deena Kastor, Molly Huddle, Kara Goucher and Chelsea Sodaro all touting the benefits of Addaday products, you’ll no doubt be seeing and hearing a lot more about Addaday in the very near future.
