Steady Six Before The Weekend

Decided to run fairly easy tonight and ended up with six miles at just over 7 minute per mile pace – not a bad effort, and surprisingly, it really did feel quite easy. The temperature was still over 80°F, but wasn’t too oppressive as the brisk SE wind masked the worst of the heat. I did stop at my new-found water fountain a couple of times though to top up my fluid levels…

I ran the first four miles in typical progressive fashion – i.e. each mile progressively faster than the previous mile (7:33, 7:10, 7:04 and 6:53). With two miles to go, I backed off the pace and concentrated on my running form instead. At the finish I was pleased to see I hadn’t slowed too much and recorded miles of 7:00 and 7:02 respectively.

So, with 12 consecutive days of running, I’m now up to 70 miles for the month of June and 984 miles for the year so far. Won’t be long before I hit the magic 1000.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there….
