Hundred Push Ups: Week 6 Day 3

Monday lunchtime (a day later than planned) and it’s time for the final day of Week 6 of the Hundred Push Ups plan. I’m already resigned to the fact that I’ll be repeating Week 6 due to a big failure on Day 1, but I’ll give it my best anyway. Here goes; back in a few minutes to let you know how I did….

Required: 23, 23, 20, 20, 20, 20, 16, 16, at least 50

The first 23 were awkward – arms stiff and right shoulder popping. No worries, plenty of time to loosen things up. The next 23 went fine, as did the 4 sets of 20 which left just two comfortable 16’s before the mega 50 set!

I took another 30 seconds rest, drank some water and stretched out my arms and shoulders before getting down to the 50. I powered through the first 25, got to 35 quite easily and surprisingly was able to keep the momentum going all the way to number 50. I gutted out 10 more (probably could have squeezed out a few extras if need be) and stopped at 60. Wow! Where did that come from?

Required: 23, 23, 20, 20, 20, 20, 16, 16, 60

Arms are quivering but I feel good. One more week and I should be able to attempt the magic hundred! Fingers crossed….

  1. Congratulations for the hundred Steve !!
Actually I am also following the same program but have some problems. I did 12 in my initial test but preffered the second column.Even then things dont seem to work out. The first 2 rounds are fine for me, third gets a bit shaky towards the end and I simply fall flat in the 4th round after 3-4 pushups.
    Need your help!

  2. Just keep plodding away. Repeat weeks if you need to, but don’t give up. I’ve heard of people doing the hundred, but it took them 15 weeks yet they are so pleased with themselves. It’s all about progression, so just look for small improvements every week.

    Good luck!
