Hundred Push Ups: Week 2 Exhaustion Test

female.jpgI completed Week 2 of the hundred push ups plan a couple of days ago, so today was the day to perform an exhaustion test to determine which column of Week 3 I need to follow starting tomorrow.

I was quietly confident of making the required 25 push ups or more to get into column 3, but was curious to see how much I’d improved since the initial test a couple of weeks ago.

After a brief warm up to stretch the muscles, I got down in the prone position and off I went. 10 turned into 20, 20 to 30 and then I started to struggle a little. I made it to 40 with a little wobbling but gutted out another 8 to finish off with a surprising 48 push ups – 30 more than the same time two weeks ago!

As you can imagine, I’m very happy and am heading outside for a run to celebrate…

Before I sign off, just wanted to mention a few additions I’ve made to the hundred push ups web site. I’ve received tons of email about the plan and wanted to address a few of the suggestions while they were fresh in my mind:

  • Introduction page – added some random quotes from the hundreds of emails I’ve received about the push ups plan and web site. I plan on adding more when I have a few minutes free time!
  • What is a push up? page – added instructions for “good-form” push ups and some alternatives for anyone struggling with the traditional style push up.
  • The Challenge page – added a nifty little “I did the hundred” badge that can be downloaded and proudly displayed on your blog/web site.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other bright ideas, feel free to leave a comment below.

  2. Just a small selection of stretches from a great little book; A Morning Cup of Stretching:

side stretch, wrist flexors, wrist extensors, standing doorway stretch to name a few….

Glad you like the badge. I’m looking forward to seeing them all over the internet in a few weeks time!

  3. Exhaustion Test Done: 26. Got to 25 with a weird look on my face then went for 1 more. Might have done more with a small pause at the top but thought I might get accused of not doing to technically right. 26 is good. Especially after a 10km run and 550m swim today.

Day 1, Week 3 starts Tuesday!

And I LOVE that badge, I WANT that badge … mwahahahaha!

Bill & Andrew: it’s yours if you want it! Maybe I should charge a dollar a download? Just kidding…
