Success! I made it comfortably through my repeat of Week 3 this afternoon and ended up with a total of 122 push ups for the session.

Required: 30, 22, 22, 20, at least 27

Actual: 30, 22, 22, 20, 28

The first 30 were fine, as were the 22, 20 and 20 that followed. After allowing myself the full 2 minute recovery period, I set to work on the final 27; got to 20 no problem, then 22, then 24. I paused for maybe 10 seconds before squeezing out another couple to get to 26. One more made the required 27 which I followed up with a dodgy 28th before calling it a day.

So, full steam ahead to Week 4 now which I may start on Saturday morning before heading up to Richmond to take part in Muddy Buddy on Sunday. Should be a fun weekend…

Awesome!

Hey,

Thanks for the program! I completed week 2 lvl 3 OK but re-took it to hopefully prepare myself better for week 3.

I’ve a few questions:

Would it make much difference if I repeated the whole days plan say 1hr after completeing it? What if I did it three times throughout that morning? (Maybe stepping down a lvl or two if needed, but basically nocking out a ton of pushups overall).

What difference does it make if after pushups I also do some sets of my 10kg dumbell (usually 2 or 3 sets of 20 bicep curls). I like this exorcise as it leaves my arms feeling alot more strained afterwards :)

Just wondering if either will speed up, inhibit or not make a difference to my overall strength/muscle/pushups building?

Cheers,
Chris

I hadn’t looked ahead to week 3 yet… yikes. Good work.

Hi Chris,

Personally, doing the push ups three times a week is plenty for me and I really don’t think I’d recover in time to do any more good sets.

I guess a lot depends on what you’re trying to achieve. I’m just looking to increase upper body strength and tone up a little.

As I’m finding with my running, every good plan has built in recovery periods which are very important to development and progression. I guess you just have to find the right balance.

Eric - nice Shaggy impression!

OK cheers, I guess it’s all a bit of playing it by ear and trial and error, I’m only just starting out with exorcising… and loving it. I have to say my ipod nike+ addon has really made the difference in helping me get started and enoying it :)
