Hair of the Dog 5kOk, the predictions have come flooding in for my appearance in the New Year’s Day Hair of the Dog 5k (well not quite flooding in, but it’s nice to have some interest), so here’s an update of the times:

Tim - 18:57:60
Corey - 18:36:30
Ernie - 18:45
Lisa - 18:40:30
Blaine - 18:14
Charlie - 18:24
Abimars - 18:29
Lisa [2] - 18:08

I’ve decided to wear my trusty Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS during the race so I can review the stats later in the day, but I’m going to blank off the display so I’m not influenced by pace, distance or speed. Does that sound fair? Maybe Tim or Charlie can verify this at the start line?

Sounds like the race is going to be even more popular than last year with over 350 pre-registered at last count and many more sure to show up on race day. It’s bound to be a lot of fun and a great way to start the New Year - can’t wait! May the best prediction win….

Good luck on a speedy race!

I’m beginning to think that all of our race predictions are on the slow side…I think you will come in in the 17’s…about 17:44.

Have a great race…see you out there!
Charlie

Hi Steve,
Wow, this is exciting! Can’t wait to hear about your race!

Got an idea for you:
After the contest is done, how about posting your PRs (for various race distances &/or races) on your sidebar? It’d be great to see your all-time best PRs as well as your PRs for last year.

I remember you talking about how you’d improved your times considerably over previous years, even over what you did several years ago at a much younger age, which is a remarkable achievement! You are like a fine wine — You just keep getting better over time!

Good luck in tomorrow’s race!

Cheers,
-C

One more comment, albeit totally unrelated: I have to say that your blog looks really sharp! Love how you’ve organized everything. Great job!

Thanks Blaine! Not sure if speedy will be the correct term, but here’s hoping…

Charlie: I can almost guarantee I won’t be in the 17’s. If I remember correctly, I only managed that twice in the whole of 2007.

Corey: Great idea about the PR’s and one that I was planning on doing very soon. It seems to be a growing trend on runner’s blogs to post their best times and I think it really adds something to the sidebar.
I still have a few things I need to do to RBR, but on the whole it’s looking a lot better than it did a few weeks ago. Thanks for noticing!

great blog you have here!
I’m going to guess 18:08. Good luck and may the speed be with you!

:) Lisa

Thanks Lisa. Another challenging prediction….
