Hundred Push Ups: Week 2 Day 2

With an eight mile run behind me, it was time to rehydrate and get stuck in to the push ups plan; Week 2 Day 2 already.

On paper the required 16, 13, 11, 11, at least 15 looked more daunting than the workout a couple of days ago, but at least I could do the 16 when I was still fresh and then hang on until the max effort at the end.

Today I stretched all the right muscles before getting down to the push ups and it definitely helped. The 16 was fine and I felt like my form had improved greatly over the first week of the plan. Maybe that was all in my imagination though. The 13 and the 11 were fine too, but I struggled a little on the second 11. To finish off the workout I took full advantage of the 90 seconds rest before methodically working my way through 21 good ones. I couldn’t quite match my max of 25 from Sunday, but I’m happy with the result; 72 push ups today.

As per my recent routine, I followed up the push ups with Day 2 of the second week of a 6-week core strength program. I find the abs work easier than the push ups, so my decision to do them last is a good one I think.

All good fun and I seem to be making steady progress. After all, there are still over 4 weeks to go in both programs!

Just for the record…..

Required: 16, 13, 11, 11, at least 15
Actual: 16, 13, 11, 11, 21
